After being away due to covid for 2 years, we came back in 2022, but started later than other ensembles. However, that did not deter the young members as we finished strong and were excited about what 2023 could bring that we jumped the gun on a few things.
First - reducing costs and such last year, did not strain our check book, but we finished at a zero balance. So we basically had no funds to start 2023. But we thought we could ! Sometimes the wrong glasses are put on,
Second - A great open house does not always bring in more members. With some hiccups and road blocks in the fall, our sections were filling up, but mostly in the battery. Front ensemble seemed to stall. So limited funds and less members is not a great equation for the goals and broader agenda we put together.
Third - We started to contact those that did register or were at Open House to ask what was holding them back. Money was always one of the answers. Understand we are not the only ensemble in the country with this problem, but ours was made worse with zero at all. We also realized that many of those interested really didn't know much about indoor drumline, other than from some friends and watching videos, and did not know that in order to be on the world stage it meant lots of time and money and high tuition. We then found out most did not care about going to Dayton much, yeah it would be cool sometime, but they just wanted to drum. We also heard from parents who are still struggling to give their families what they need and adding a high tuition, even broken into smaller monthly payments was just not feasible.
Fifth and FINAL - So we cut WGI Dayton out the budget. With that, a change in show direction to a less expensive and not as flashy concept allowed us to eliminated many other additional expenses. Instead we will focus on recruiting, training, learning and with an objective to continue to perform a show at a high level, to get much needed funds to sustain the organization and #1 to build towards helping these young students become better percussionists, musicians and young adults so we can move back to performing on the world stage again in a few years
After going thru expenses to see what we will continue to need to give the students a high education while also not to jeopardize the organization into any financial losses. we will be charging the following fees -
$900.00 Tuition PLUS a $250.00 Contracted Membership Fee.
The $900.00 will be broken into smaller monthly payments.
YES !! We have been blessed with a few people donating monies to us to offer a few monetary scholarships. Certain criteria must be met to be eligible. Those applying after being contracted will receive that information
